Loan Book Officer | Structured Property Finance

A new opportunity to work in our Structured Finance team where you will provide support to the team in assisting with the maintenance, analysis and review of the existing loan book. This is to include the provision of regular management information and reporting, day to day returns, loan documentation, audits and reviews as required by the wider business and/or the Head of Operations.

This is a hybrid role – 3 days in the office (City of London location) and 2 days working from home.

Role Purpose:

Responsible for leading and overseeing the Property Credit sanctioning team within the Credit department, ensuring that the resources of the
team are sufficient and appropriately applied to identifying, mitigating, monitoring and reporting those credit risks apparent in the business.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of the monthly SF Business Management Committee packs.
  • Periodic ‘Deep Dive reviews’ (as required during the year) and the presentation of these reviews in the required BMC meeting
  • Additional requests for various management information to be prepared when required
  • The completion of the monthly ‘Lending Report – Divisions’ document detailing the month end position of the team’s Originations, Loan Book and WIP
  • Monitoring of the day behind reports (SFO1/WIP01) to ensure the loan book is efficiently managed with maturity dates/interest in line with each loan agreement
  • Day to day management of the WIP and cashflow for drawdown /repayment with liaison with the underwriters, treasury and deposits) to ensure the loan book/WIP is appropriately managed for liquidity purposes. This includes the bi-weekly ‘Management Overlays’ cashflow reporting
  • The completion of the SF Team’s month end sign off for the Finance Department
  • The execution of the SF team’s monthly Commercial Exposure calculations and the reporting of this information to management
  • Assist the Head of SF and Head of Operations with preparation of the annual Budget and Forecast data and the preparation of these presentations
  • Management of the monthly interest collections including both manual payments and Direct Debit claims
  • The execution of each Loan Extensions on the Aurius system and the upkeep of the Extensions MI and monthly Extensions reporting to Finance/Credit
  • Preparation of Offer letters/Variation and Extension Letters with the status of these to be recorded/monitored
  • Preparation of instruction letters for third party professionals
  • Monitoring of loan conditions, overdue interest and Call Accounts
  • General portfolio management of the Loan book including the setup of new applications/loans on Aurius
  • The monitoring and collection of Fee’s ensuring that these are chased and paid on time as required
  • The monitoring and collection of Offer Letters/Extension Letters ensuring that these are chased and returned on time as required
  • Fee Account reconciliation and periodic returns to Finance
  • The execution of periodic reviews of the SF Loan Book for other departments – including the quarterly PRA Reviews/monthly PRA reporting and other data requests from Finance/Credit/Treasury
  • Preparation of redemption statements
  • Complete Post Completion Checklists/Welcome Letters
  • Calculating and implementing interest rate adjustments on Aurius when required
  • Undertaking further advances on Aurius such as ‘Works Tranches’ on the team’s Improvement Loans
  • Other ad-hoc slide presentations on behalf of the team and team management

Skills and Experience sought:

  • Knowledge of/ interest in the property market
  • Office IT systems (word, excel, PowerPoint etc)
  • Legal aspects of the property market, specifically taking property as security
  • Familiarisation with bridging, development, commercial and short term lending
  • Working knowledge of loan operations with banks or lenders
  • Ability to use various IT tools such as financial and administrative, word processing, spreadsheet and database software
